I just purchased AppleCare from ebay and tried to set it up on the Apple website. The AppleCare number was accepted but the website said it did not recognise my Macbook serial number.

I called AppleCare and had to go through some options and send them my system profiler data but they then said that my serial number did not exist on any of the Apple systems!!

He then had the cheek to ask me if im sure i bought the macbook from a reputable dealer and I politely pointed out that the f***ing Apple online store with their useless delivery sold it to me.

He is looking into the problem and hopefully calling me on Monday.

Anyone else had this problem (im in the UK) with late 2008 Macbooks and AppleCare?

Yes, when I called in to Applecare and gave them my serial number it wasn't in the system. She said it was some kind of problem with the registration of the new macbooks so she put me in manually.

When i first got my Mac i registered it and i got an email thanking me for registering my iPod Touch. Ive seen others say they got the same message. I called apple and everything was all good.

Re: Serial #

Hey,
I work for an Apple Specialist and we see this all the time. There is some crazy thing apple does with Serial #'s sometimes. If you call AppleCare and ask to Speak to a Level 2 Specialist and ask them to re-add your serial Number. Level 2 and Higher are the ones who can take care of that.
