macbook alu slow today..confussed

okay i started it up today on the bus to college and I found my self looking at the greyish screen with the apple for quite a while. tested it a couple of times again and still no improvement. any suggestions on whats going on?

A couple things to try to get that to hopefully speed up for you would be to try a SMC and a PRAM reset. Then I would try and clear your cache folders out. Let me know if still no improvement. Could be a sign of the HD not feeling to good.
