Hello

I have the new 2.4GHz model and the keyboard backlight remains active when in a bright lit room and when dark, its not like my MBP previous generation which turns the backlight in low light etc

I've checked the illuminate in low light conditions option in system preferences.

Anyone help please?

That's strange. Tried calling Apple/going to the store?

Or maybe it's not bright enough? Try holding a flashlight to the left of the iSight.

Could be the sensor I guess.

Many thanks for the amazing prompt reply.

I dont have a flashlight at hand used my iPhone on full brightness and it works!!

Strange though my MBP works fine in this room though

Hmm, could be software then. I guess it goes by how much light is coming in, then it does it accordingly.

Same Problem

I have the same problem on my Macbook. The problem is definitely not the light sensor, because it correctly senses when it needs to dim the screen. It seems that the amount of light required to shut off the backlight is way too high. If only there was a way we could control this threshold...

Does anyone know if a fix for this will be in any future software updates?

One of the issues I had with classic MBP is that it turned the KB backlight off when it was still too dark. I guess now its the opposite and all I can say I prefer the new way ^^ The backlight looks awesome.
