I posted in a different thread about wanting to replace my hard drive with a SSD.

I also want to do a clean install of lion. I'm trying to understand what my options are.

1. I bought an 8gb usb stick to put the lion recovery disk on. My understanding is that I can boot off of the usb stick and will thus get a clean install of lion on the new ssd.

2. I still have to figure out a way to get my files and apps off of my current hard drive on to the new ssd.

3. if I didn't do a clean install this would be a lot easier because the crucial ssd came with the transfer kit that would let me just transfer everything to the SSD. I'm a bit space constrained though going from 160gb to 128gb SSD. I've tried to delete a bunch of videos and programs I don't use anymore but the hard drive says it is still over 100gb used. I don't understand though because it says I have 18gb of video but I know I only have 8gb of video on the hard rive. I've deleted a lot of stuff and emptied the trash can but the hard drive still says it is being used up. Mostly by the "Other" category which visually shows to be taking up almost half of the hard drive and yet it says 0 kb of space.

4. Is there a better app I could get that would specifically show me what are these 18gb of video or this other stuff?

Thanks,
Alex
