* I did try to swap the harddrive out on my Ibook g3 and almost broke the thing plastic on the bottom so I gave up, is the new Unibody Macbook even harder to replace itmes such as cables and such?

That depends who wants to buy it.
To me a 3 year old macbook is worth nothing. Technology progresses way to fast
