macbook and iMac memory question

Hi All,

So this is my second post at macrumors and I just had another question. I upgraded my mb with a stick of 1gb ram and I have the 256mb ram just laying around. I was wondering if I could put that into my iMac c2d since there is a free slot? Thanks everyone.

Technically you could, since they use the same RAM. But do you know for a fact that you have a slot free in the iMac? All iMacs ship with both slots filled.

Yes you can. Same type RAM in Intel iMacs, MBs, and MBPs.

Yeah, I opened up the compartment door and there was only 1 slot filled up with a 1GB stick (also in system profiler it only showed 1 stick of ram). Thanks for the help you guys.
