I have a 1 month old macbook 2.0g running 10.5.2 and am having difficulty understanding running out into VGA monitors.

I'm using the mini DVI to VGA adaptor and I get a picture ... but it's the wrong scale. It seems to reset the screen on the laptop as well. I have run into a bunch of different monitors and some projectors ... all with the same result.

How do I re-scale to fit?

are you planning to use the laptop in clamshell mode? (with the lid closed)

if so, just connect a usb keyboard and mouse and the computer will awake from sleep and the display will be optimized for the external monitor.

you can also use the monitor as an extension.

Other than that, I am going to need more information.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was planning to use the laptop normally and have the VGA just mirror it ... so lid open.

Hi,

when i connect my macbook to my hdtv via vga i go into system preferences and displays, it then brings up 2 menus one on my mac and the other on the tv you can then change the resolution etc from there.
