Macbook and wireless gaming question

I have a bit of a problem and i was wondering if anyone could help me. I recently just bought a belkin router so that i could play xbox 360 without a wireless adapter. THe problem is that im not near the actual modem but ive connected my macbook to the router and then to the xbox 360 but the DNS keeps on failing. I was wondering if there was anything i could do to where i could use my macbook as a router. Thanks
