I was just wondering if there was anyway that I could use my macbook as a disk for a linux/Windows desktop. I know that there is target disk mode, but does that work for other operating systems? And if it does, how do I connect the computers? Do i use ethernet or some usb connection or what? Thanks a lot.

Should work with other operating system too, as long as they support the filesystem the mac is formatted with, or if you have a partition in a compatible format in the mac. That means the macbook in target disc mode will be exactly like an external firewire hard disc. You will need a firewire cable to use target disc mode.
