So I've got a spare white early 2008 Macbook that I've set up as a media centre. I run Lion Server on it with an XBMC frontend. I use sickbeard and transmission to automatically update my shows, so it needs to be always on.
The setup works fine, apart from a couple of niggles.
1) The Macbook puts itself to sleep every few hours. There's no pattern to how long it takes. I have caffeine installed, and the proper energy saving settings. The laptop does not have a battery, so is always plugged in to the mains.
2) The way it handles displays is a bit funky. I have it hooked up to an LCD TV over HDMI via Mini DVI. If I turn the TV on, then wake the laptop from sleep, the display works fine. If i wake the laptop from sleep, then turn the TV on, it does not detect any signal. Any ideas why?
3) 720p MKV playback is sometimes choppy through XBMC - I've tried adjusting all settings to no avail. The laptop only has sickbeard, transmission and XBMC running at any one moment and I have done a clean install to ensure there's nothing unnecessary on the laptop. Any thoughts?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
