Macbook as video camera?

I've just started using a logitech usb camera for ichat and it has great video so I'm wondering - can I use my macbook as a video camera? What software would you suggest? Maybe I'd like to record 2 or 3 minute clips to assemble in imovie and upload to youtube. Searched but everything is much more complicated than this should be.

imovie will allow you to record directly from your isight or other connected camera. Just click the camera icon on the middle bar and it will bring it up, click record.
You can also export to youtube, i believe directly from imovie.

I heard office can record entire classes or meetings via webcam so you can look into that.

iMovie will work for many basic recordings, it will just depend on what you are trying to film.
