macbook audio jacks

[Bad Paper]

The macbook has two 1/8" jacks for audio in and out. Can anyone tell me whether these are mono or stereo? I assume the audio out is stereo, but I can't really make that assumption about audio in. TIA

You shouldn't be recording anything that would really make use of the stereo through an integrated line in. If you need real quality, you'd best pick up a USB soundcard or something of the sort.

Both ports are analog stereo and digial optical. Best of both worlds.
