I am new to Macbooks, been researching this issue as I have a (new to me) early 2008 that has intermittent video based on how far it is open.

Research looks to be a cable issue. I ordered the cable.

I am curious as to if that solves nearly all the issues, or if the inverter board is commonly bad too. Just thinking ahead, as the effort opening and closing the unit and it's 3200 screws seems daunting, I am trying to avoid doing it a few times. :)

Thanks!

Thanks LA. That's right, that is the model. I'll replace the board right away with the cable while I am in there.

I haven't even priced backlights, can't imagine them too cheap.

Thanks again!
