Mine is a 2 years old macbook.

As of my observation till last week, the batter is giving me pretty enough time to work off power cable. For the past two days, i observed it is discharging very fast even though i'm not using many applications simultaneously.

Any idea what is wrong with it?? or is it common to every macbook that has got used for 2 years or over??? :(

What are you using it for? Sometimes applications take up a lot of processor ( --> power) if it is doing something intensive.

I'm using it for just internet browsing (only Safari with 4-5 tabs)

My experience is that Lithium batteries in general can go bad very quickly, you might not see a big decrease in performance before the battery is dead. There are several cells making up the battery, so even if only one is bad, the whole battery will be dead. 2 years old battery and depending on how it has been used, seems pretty reasonable to me.

Agreed. Take a look at how many cycles have been put on the battery and that will give you a clearer picture whether or not the battery is actually failing or reaching end of life.

Where are these details (# of cycles used and current health status of the battery) can be found in my MacBook?

you can download coconut battery stat HERE

run that and it'll tell you the age of your battery and it's current cycles and health ;)

Thank you so much and here is the status of my battery now,

Seems it is not so bad even the # of cycles. Don't know then why still I'm getting it less charge off the cable :(

hmmmm, well thats not showing that your battery would be discharging very fast, you've got to be running some pretty intensive programs for it to drain that quickly,

could you post your activity monitor up, maybe you have some things running in the background that your not aware of ;)
