My Macbook is coming up to a year old i have not used it for about a month but yesterday I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't without the charger plugged in,I presumed I left it on and the battery was dead but when i plugged it in and turned on it said battery not charging but it is still recognized by my macbook. I've no idea what is wrong any help is welcome.
Thanks in advance
Thomas

Call Apple and get it taken care of before the warranty is up.

how do you run applecare? Isn't it just techduluxe that you can run from it. Unless you meant that you called them and stuff...?

If you left it on and the battery discharged, that would do it. Lithium based batteries cannot be fully discharged without doing significant damage.
The battery has a built in self-monitoring circuit that cuts off any devices when it drops below a predefined minimum level; however, this circuit itself draws some energy, so the battery continues to discharge slightly. Over the course of a month this would probably be enough to do significant damage to the battery.
