Hi,

Ever since installing Big Sur on its release my MacBook has been having serious battery drain issues whilst not in use, presumably because it's not entering sleep. I've read numerous threads and tried all the recommended fixes below but with no success...

Bluetooth wake off
WAN wake off (I'm guessing this only happens with AC power anyhow)
Do Not Disturb whilst sleeping (always set like this anyhow)
Reduced auto power off delay to 28800 but not sure thats relevant to sleeping
Reset SMC & NVRAM (multiple times)

I've recently carried out a complete wipe and fresh install of Big Sur but still have the same problem - recently the battery dropped from 100% to 16% in a little over two days with no use and the lid shut. Battery life whilst in use still seems good.

My MacBook spec is as follows...
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
3.1 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7
16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
1TB storage

I have a huge 'pmset -g' log from this recent couple of days failure but not sure of the best way to post it on here in hope someone understands it and can help?

I've had exactly the same issue with a Macbook 12 inch, but not related to Big Sur upgrade. It dropped power from 100% to 5% in 2 days, with no use and lid down. I did a System Report, and battery health is very good, and the battery has just 85 cycle counts. I reduced screen brightness etc, and power was still dropping. I looked at the Auto Power Off Delay, and this was huge at 259200 which is actually 259,200 seconds, which translates as 72 hours (or 3 days) of delaying the computer being able to go into hibernation mode. Hence the battery is being drained, even when not in use. I found this article very helpful in explaining what "hibernation' mode is and why it's important, and how to re-programme this part of the computer since it's not accessible from the System Preferences:

To change Auto Power Off Delay, go into Finder and type "Terminal".

Click on Terminal and then type: pmset -g
To change the Auto Power Off Delay type: sudo pmset -a autopoweroffdelay 21600
Press Return key. All done!
You can change the number according to how many hours you'd like... basically by working out what it is in seconds, so 21600 seconds is equal to 6 hours (6 x 60 x 60= 21600). If you wanted 4 hours, this would be calculated as 4 x 60 x 60, which is 14400. And so on.

I hope this post helps. I'm not a techie, so please don't ask me any questions. But I will say that this solution has solved the problem of battery drainage!
