Hey all, going to the mountains tomorow.. just wondering...

if i watch a 2 hour movie, in avi or mp4 format, will it last the ride without power...

my macbook is 3 weeeks old and has 47 cycle son it.. it is still 100% health..

also, which is better for battery life mp4 or avi??

thanks in advance.. also will i have some juice for some other stuff after the movie??

thanks

Whatever format uses less CPU power will use less battery life in the end.

Make sure you have airport/bluetooth off, no discs (cds/dvds) in the MacBook, brightness as low as possible, and NO other applications running.

You're MB will last the 2 hours for sure. Most of the power sucked out when playing movies is from having to spin the dvd. So if you are playing a file I don't think its is going to matter. Between mp4 or avi I don't think you'd ever notice a difference. If you were going to pick one for that reason... ah... mp4 because osx has built support for mp4 and it doesn't for avi. But really... it isn't going to matter.

See apple.com/support for tips on saving battery life. Like dimming your screen and stuff.
