Hi There,

My girlfriends MacBook battery has all of a sudden stopped charging. She has had the MacBook since 2006. Below is the MacBook specification and battery information from system profiler.

The cycle count is only 77. Is that good or bad? I understand batteries are consumables but this MacBook hasn’t been greatly used since finishing University in 2007.

I have reset the SMC and re-seated the battery. When I press the button on the outside of the battery none of the lights light up. I have also tried my Dad’s MacBook battery in the machine and it works. The MacBook is running Leopard and has all the recent updates.

I’m going to give Apple tech support a call tonight. Is there anything else I can try? I don’t have Apple Care for the MacBook.

Thanks,

Dan

77 charge cycles for a 2006 macbook battery is very low. Do you have the Apple battery update? Apple had an extended warranty on their early model macbook batteries and you can find the info here.

Thanks, I'll give that a read and speak to Apple this evening.
