Macbook battery question

I own a Macbook Pro (among other Mac's) but the battery has been getting bad the past year. So, I will need to buy a new battery. My worry is this, I am planning on getting my mom a Macbook, but I am worried about the internal battery in the long term. I know batteries do not last forever, but at least an external you can replace, so I am worried how this internal battery will work, of course the Macbook (with internal battery) has only been out so long, so of course no long term stats.
If you own one could you let me know how the battery is? Or if you know about the macbook battery it would be a great help.

So are you worried you're mom won't know how to replace the battery when it gets old?
Or are you asking how long the battery lasts?
Let's say your mom uses the Macbook on battery power(not plugged in) for 2 hours a day. Her battery will probably last about 7-8 years.

You can have the internal battery replaced also, it just requires service.
