Macbook battery settings are gone?

So before when I clicked the battery symbol at the top right on my laptop the choices of better battery life, normal, and better performance showed up and i could click either one. Now when I click there, for some reason those choices aren't there. Why are they gone? How can I fix this? Thanks.

It was removed in the 10.5.6 update

A simple Google search of forums search will show you a bunch of threads on this topic. That feature is GONE since the 10.5.6 update. You have to go into System Preferences -> Energy Saver.
