Does anyone have any images or links to pimped out macbooks?
As I really hate my SR Blackbook colour.

I would consider selling my SRMB and buying a new 13" MBP if it came out in brushed metal, but am also scared that if i did I would get just as many heat issues and shocks like i did with my last MBP.

So I want to pimp my blackbook, may even consider swapping shells with somone if interested.

no idea if it voids warranty, i can imagine the pressure on the case would be hefty tho. maybe this kinda give instead? artwork on ur laptop!
http://www.gelaskins.com/

(if anyone is interested in the uk for laser etching, these guys might be an option)
http://www.razorlab.co.uk/

Again nice sites i think laser etching would be the way go,im not interested in
getting this done myself but was wondering about the warranty thats all

If voiding your warranty isn't a real issue (I'm not sure doing this is) but there was a mod (google.com) that changed the color of the Apple logo back light by just putting some colored film behind it.

Also, rather than laser etching, maybe some craft/hobby shop etching solution (I've done similar on plexiglass and it works great) since the outside is plastic it should react similar to plexiglass and you can custom make your design.

it would be so cool if you could make the back of the screen like checkered etching.

The easiest, cheapest way to pimp your Macbook is to use a Gelaskins skin - http://www.gelaskins.com - and the good bit is if you don't like it, you can take it off and use none or a different one.

I am biased a bit because they have three of my designs on their site.:)

The only problem with the Gelaskins is that they don't cover the entire laptop; just the back panel. I'd like something that could cover at least the top and bottom.

They are not so much meant to be major protection - you have a sleeve or a case for that - as some protection against scratches whilst making your laptop or iPod/iPhone look cool and different. They don't actually cover the back panel of your laptop at all. They cover the top panel. They certainly stop the iPods with metal backs from scratching, though my iPod video was scratched to buggery before I put a my Steampunk Gelaskin on it, even though I had always kept it in a case.

but the gelaskins cover up the apple logo and thus there is less illumination. id say etching is the way forward. with one application on the laser etching you could put down a huge selection of personal motifs, pics, drawings etc. lovely.

but will void warrant-applecare

Q: Does laser etching my device void the Apple warranty?
A: No. The process is done using a laser at low power and can not damage your iPod, MacBook, MacBook Pro or Powerbook. The process is quick, clean, permanent and will not void your Apple warranty.

Etching doesn't void your warranty. I also saw it in a video where the woman etching her MBP said it wouldn't.

Its funny actually, ETCHamac is based in Arizona, which is where I live. I called them up to ask if they do local etching and they said yes!

When I get my MBP, I'm SO doing it!

You are so lucky!!
Does anyone know if any company does laser etching in Southern California?

thats so cool i just won a contest for designing a logo and now im gonna have it etched into my macbook pro or iphone or both, awesome!!!

Does anyone know where you can get a rainbow Apple :)apple:) logo sticker that would fit over the logo on the back of the monitor? I attached a pic from ars technica's review of the MB Air that illustrates what I'm talking about.

I am just going to go to walgreens or something and pick up the stuff that people use to cover there books in high school and place it over my top cover and create a custom design of my own with sharpies and decals.

try this combo

one: get a techshell (www.techshell.com) rubberized (I got mine in black) really cool, feels like the black macbook on the outside

two: stick a gelaskin on the outside of the techshell (www.gelaskins.com)

three: take one iphone apple (white) and stick it over the gelaskin, you can use one larger apple that came with your system (www.ebay.com)

four: stick a black www.macstyles.com sticker on the top case

six: www.powersupportusa.com Trackpad and Mouse Cover

seven: www.iSkin.com or www.KBcovers.com or www.zcover.com keyboard covers
