I have a 2015 MacBook Air that needs a battery and am considering getting a new computer. Old one fits my needs (plus has MagSafe, two usb ports plus Thunderbolt 2(?). But just looked at a new MacBook Pro 14" with the liquid retina xdr display and WOW! Is there a comparable display one could buy alone and hook up to my MacBook Air? What would it be? Options? Thought to look on Amazon but am not having any luck at the moment.

Guess I should also ask if the 2015 MacBook Air would even support a liquid retina xdr display!

It can run an external 4K display at 60 Hz. That’s as good as it gets.

If you want a “Retina display” it needs to have around 220 ppi — the only 4K option is the discontinued 21.5” LG UltraFine 4K.

No XDR, no Liquid Retina, and no kitchen sink.

It's far easier and less complicated to just upgrade to a newer device.

Let's say you could somehow get an XDR display jerry-rigged to a 2015 MBA... the performance will be less than ideal and after a while you could probably fry an egg on the bottom of your MBA.
