The Dell has no bluetooth no 10/100/1000 Ethernet no optical but it has Windows!!;)

I can't imagine that the dell doesn't have 10/100/1000 ethernet - are you sure about that?

I would say that the major benefit with the Macbook is that it doesn't have windows ;)

What do you need it for?

I've done the same with a 17" MBP and the 17" XPS notebook.

MBP=$2600 (100GB HD)
XPS=$3400+

If you're not getting "bottom of the barrel" configured machines, Macs are really a bargain. Unfortunately, a great many PC users will get the cheapest available, even if it does have Celeron *shudders* and never understand the difference.

Edit: Even the 17" Inspiron came out to be $2800+ with no 2.33 GHz option to choose.
