Does anyone have any issues with their macbook overheating and then having programs continually crash on them. I have had to replace a power cable already cause it burned itself. Its a first edition macbook so could do with a new one but trying to get the last bit of life out of it.

So the charging cables are overheating or the computer?

If it's the cable, I'd stop using it ASAP, as that's a huge fire hazard. If it's an internal heat issue, you can temporarily take care of it by installing SMCFanControl and set the default fan speed higher.
