My MacBook keeps dying.

Can happen when the Battery is in and the mains is plugged in. Goes to sleep and cannot be turned on without rebooting or removing the battery and putting it back.. It then happens 10 mins later.

Seems OK when Battery only.
Seems OK mains only with battery taken out completley.

I'm confused.

Can anyone shed any light?

Seems like the mains are affecting your battery and causing an unstable power supply causing random shutdowns. It's odd that one should affect another like that. I'd bring it in and see what Apple can do, doubt it's something you could fix yourself without disassembly.
