Sometimes when my MacBook has been sleeping and I wake it and it prompts me for the password and I put it in... it then fails. The screen goes black except just the cursor and there's nothing I can do but power down.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Run repair system pref in disk utility. If no, re-install Operating sys.

.............. I profess to know nothing

I don't think all of that is necessary. It seems to be a problem specific to the screensaver I was using (Electric Sheep). I can't confirm this yet, but I suspect it. I've switched to one of the Apple ones for now.

Nevermind!

Nevermind! I've since had the same problem happen with another screensaver. It is OS X's fault.

If you enter your password while the cursor is still an arrow the system will lock up. If you enter it after the cursor turns into a beachball you'll be fine.

If any other solution is known I would love to hear.
