Hi,
I've used a 2006 macbook for a while now and it finally gave out and I've decided to get rid of it. The Optical Disc drive works fine, but the one in my sister's 2011 MBP does not and needs to be replaced. I'm wondering if I can just use the one from my 2006 macbook in her mac or do i need to buy one? I've done repairs on computers before and am able to repair it myself, I just don't know if the two drives are compatible with each other.

Thanks!

I wouldn't think so, but more for the size of the drive, the 2011 models are significantly thinner than the Rev 1s were (I have both in my room right now). I'd either toss it in an enclosure or just buy a external DVD drive.
