Given a Macbook Early 2009 (5,2)

In the System profile the Superdrive appears under the Disc burning menu, and it says the connection is ATAPI (aka PATA).

Code:
MATSHITA DVD-R UJ867A:

  Firmware Revision:	KK08
  Interconnect:	ATAPI

But, it also apperas under the Serial-ATA menu.

Code:
NVidia MCP79 AHCI:

  Vendor:	NVidia
  Product:	MCP79 AHCI
  Link Speed:	3 Gigabit
  Negotiated Link Speed:	1.5 Gigabit
  Description:	AHCI Version 1.20 Supported

MATSHITADVD-R UJ867A:

  Model:	MATSHITADVD-R UJ867A
  Revision:	KK08

So does it mean that I have a PATA Superdrive but it's connected through a SATA interface?
