MacBook fan noise

Hi all,

My early 2008 MacBook has been generating a loud humming noise to the front end of the keyboard.

I am convinced it is the fan - has anybody else ever had this problem.

It's only intermittent, although does happen for about 3-5 minutes every 30 minutes.

are you using it for any heavy CPU consuming tasks?

Photoshop, Games, websites with flash content etc are all processes which require a lot of CPU so it gets hot and needs to be cooled. Once it's below a certain temperature again the fans will slow down again.

CPU intensive tasks

It hums all the time - surfing the web, iTunes, email, Photoshop etc.

Also, it's not even hot. When it is hot, the fan bursts out air from the rear, which is really noisy, but this is a really loud hum.
