I found my mac out to lunch when I sat down this evening. I quit all the applications and ran Activity Monitor and Finder was using 30% of the CPU. I noticed that the Airport was turned on and the system latched onto an unknown open network. The system was also on the hard wire ethernet. When I turned the airport off boom -- loading went from 30% CPU load to .2%. Note that via sharing on preferences does not have anything checked -- that is turned on.
Thoughts anyone?

Sometimes Finder uses more resources than it might be necessary, but closing all windows of Finder might help alleviate that.
Anyway, 30% of 200% available CPU capacity is nothing to worry about.
