Hi everyone,

Looking for a MacBook that may fit my needs as my 2012 MBP recently gave up the ghost.

Uses: general web browsing, emails, heavy excel usage with medium-large sized workbooks, document and PDF creation.

No gaming, no photo/video editing.

Would the MacBook be sufficient? Or would the excel usage warrant the Pro?

Thanks!

The MacBook should be fine for your usage. The 2015 version may stutter a bit with large Excel files, but the 2016 and 2017 versions won't have any issues. Make sure, however, that you can stand the keyboard if you're coming from a 2012 MBP. It is a very different typing experience, and you may be better off with the base MBP (which has a newer iteration of the keyboard that feels better) or waiting for the new "low-priced Macbook" rumored to be released soon.
