My one week old MacBook 2.4 GHz froze up today - BLACK SCREEN - while I was syncing my Calendar via MobileMe, and the onboard fan started running at maximum. I couldn't do a hard restart and when I removed and re-inserted the battery, same problem, same symptoms! AppleCare said, "Bring it in!" Bummer!
