Ready to make the switch to a Mac and thinking about support after the purchase. Living in rural America, Best Buy is 2 Hrs. drive and Apple store is four and a hlf Hrs drive. Should I buy at Best Buy and their warranty plan, or from Apple On Line, either new or refurb with Applecare? Senior citizen, so neither student nor education discounts apply.

Thanks....

Go for a refurb from Apple.com. With the money you save, you can purchase AppleCare. The Mac should be in like new condition. :)

Get your applecare at amazon and save $50 off apple's price. If you're upgrading RAM, do that aftermarket too. It will save you hundreds of dollars over apple's insane RAM prices. Everyone here can opine on the best RAM sources.

If you are Best Buy Reward Zone member, that is some big savings in reward certificates. Apple doesn't give you anything. Best Buy is running 2 years interest free with their credit card this week. BB also will match Apple's education discount. You have to ask for a manager for that.
