I have a Macbook 2.1 (White) from 2006/2007. I recently purchased Snow Leopard. I installed the software and everything went smoothly and the computer was operating normally. Right after, I did a software update. During the software update, the status bar was stuck near the end for over an hour. The status was "Moving Files". I ended up restarting the computer by pressing the restart button. Now, when I boot, it's the Grey Apple screen.

-I've tried to press the Shift Key to go into safe mode. The status bar appears at the bottom and looks like something is loading. Once the status bar completes, it disappears and nothing happens.

-I've tried to press command R - but nothing.

Ideas anyone?

command-r won't do anything on that mode/OS version. Kind of sounds like the hard drive died.

Can you boot to the SL DVD (hold C when booting) and look at the internal disk in Disk Utility from there.
