I have a macbook, it has been working all day. Now I log on, enter my password to log in, it logs me in. The desktop appears so I can see the safari icon, ICAL, Itunes etc but the top bar where you would request shut down and where you would find the battery indicator doesn't appear. Also you cannot click on any icons and nothing responds to you clicking on it

Help Much Appreciated

Jess

tried that it didn't work unfortunetly :(

Try a Safe Boot (hold down the Shift key when you hear the bong, and release the key when you see the spinning gear on the grey screen - be very patient, this takes a while) and see if you get the menu bar (top of screen - some items may not be there because Safe Boot won't allow them to launch, but you should see all of the menus). If this is the case, reboot normally and check again. If you still have the problem during the normal boot, you have a problem in your user account, most likely a corrupted preferences file or some login item in your account is not starting up correctly.
