I have recently upgraded my home network to gigabit.

I have a server setup with apache, and the other day i was doing some testing. On one computer (running kubuntu) I managed to get 60mb/s, but on my macbook i could only get 20-25mb/s. To ensure the difference wasn't in the OS, i tried it on an iMac, and I got similar results (~50mb/s). To ensure the difference wasn't in form factor, I had another gigabit laptop attempt the same test, and again: 50-60 mb/s.

I can ensure that this is not a cabling issue. All of these tests were performed from the same switch.

Are there any tweaks that I can do to boost gigabit performance?

This is the late 2008 macbook upgraded to 4 gigs of ram. (Penryn chipset i believe)
