Macbook goes to sleep once unplugged!!!

Why does my macbook go to sleep when in clamshell mode if i unplug the power cord?? Why doesn't it run off the battery if I unplug the power cord, but it will when NOT in clamshell mode???

it's just the way it's designed to operate. Guess you'd need to ask Apple why they've done it like that

it should sleep in clamshell mode with or without a power cord plugged in

the only thing that stops it sleeping in clamshell is if you have an external mouse, keyboard and monitor plugged in
