OK,

So I was hoping to find someone with the same issue that I'm currently dealing with. I have an early 2008 white macbook. The system runs fine most of the time. But occasionaly the system goes into sleep mode and will not wake up.

I can reboot the system and once it gets past the apple logo and load the desktop it goes to sleep.

So here is the interesting part if I take the battery out the system runs just fine with no issues. Once I put the battery back in system goes to sleep. Eventually the issue goes away but then eventually it comes back.

My initial thought is the sleep sensor but not sure if there could be another cause.

Thanks for any assistance.
