MacBook gpu question

On the rMBP, there's the intel 4000 and discrete card.

I know you can turn on graphic switch to save power. Now if you are doing graphic intensive work or playing games, does the discrete and intel 4000 work together or just the discrete (bring the more powerful one)?

Just wondering because it will be interesting to see what the new 5000 series can do.

It's one or the other, they do not work together, they have automatic switching which is more seamless than the early I unibodies, which had to be restarted to switch cards.

Just had to log out and log in again.

Also, the first part is correct. You can't use both at same time, it's one or other.
