Hello,
I have a black MacBook purchased in late 2006. The hard drive has failed in the past and was replaced. Also, my computer is still under Apple Care.

Problem:
The computer has been very slow for the past week or so. Today, I was working on a major paper and in the middle of backing up my data. The info is on a 100+ page excel file with calculations. While backing up, the computer froze and would not start up.

At start up, the computer freezes at the gray boot up screen with the apple logo and turning wheel.

I reset the PRAM and ran the Verbose, which said that there is a disk error.

What do I do now? Please help me, because I really need to recover this file.

I appreciate your help in advance. Thank you.

1) Get another computer with leopard handy
2) Buy an external drive enclosure
3) Take out your HD and place it in the enclosure
4) Attach enclosure to other computer
5) Back up files

If you have target disk mode available, you might want to try that as well.

Sorry, but how do I take out the hard drive? I have no idea where to start...:confused::confused:
