Hello

My computer is not working and i have concluded it is a Hard drive failure but am not sure what type of hard drive or where I should buy it from?

I have a macbook from 2006 (black) 2.0 ghz dual core, 2 GBram...i believe it is thefirst generation of macbooks since I bought it in august 2006.

Thanks for your help!

just need a 2.5 sata drive

you can get it froom best buy or online at places like newegg.com

you will need mini scredrivers and a T-8 torx screwdriver (which you can pick up at sears)

Do you know what size limit the hard drive has to be? I currently have a 80 gb can i put like a 160 or a 500 gb in it? there are no rpm requirements? will a 7200 work or should i stick with 5400? thanks!!

no size limits im aware of (i have a 500 right now)

you can put any speed, even ssd if you want

only thing to watch for is you need a 9.5 mm high drive, not 12mm....however most if not all drives are 9.5mm these days

I replaced my 80 Gb with a 500 Gb, you won't have any problems there.

I also went from a 4200 rpm to a 5400 with no problems, can't vouch for anything higher, though.
