Will be buying a macbook veryy soon
which would u pefer
main use for it will be djing, but i will be using a external hd for my music


Macbook pro 15 early 2011
2.0 GHz i7 quad
8 GB Memory (2X4GB DDR3 1333MHz) - original
500GB with speed 7200 RPM
AMD Radeon HD 6490M graphics processor with 256MB
come with 1 year applecare left

vs.

Macbook pro 15 late 2011
2.2 GHz quad
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 memory - upgraded
500gb 5400-rpm serial ata hard drive

There's no significant difference.
Get the cheaper one.
If you like the AppleCare, then get that one.

Upgrade either one with an SSD. If the bulk of your files (music) is stored on an external drive, the SSD will make whatever software you use fly.
And, you will see a substantially quicker startup if (when) you need to reboot in the middle of a music gig.

that's exactly what I'd do too. Get the cheapest one and but in a Crucial M500 or Samsung Evo 840 SSD. If they are the same price I'd go for the Late 2011 model. (hardware over Apple Care)
