My Macbook has completely frozen after wrongly installing about 12,000 fonts onto Fontbook. I've tried to sort the fonts by deleting the newly installed and keeping the old ones. However, I accidently dragged and dropped the fonts onto the desktop that slowed the computer to a standstill.

I've tried safe booting and starting the mac from the CD drive, yet still, I've had no luck (the load icon appears and will not go away- waited 6hrs)

Any help please?

Cheers

Twelve THOUSAND fonts!?? Really??

So are you saying that while trying to load SL on the DVD, it doesn't load? Because it should load from startup if you select the disk by pressing the option/alt key and selecting the DVD.

The other thing you can try is installing OS X (SL) on an external drive on another Mac, connect it to your problematic Mac, boot from it (hold down option/alt and select the external drive) and navigate to your user desktop directory where all the fonts are and delete them and see if that helps anything.
