hello macbook community. i really need help. so i recently purchased a macbook off of craigslist. the battery came dead. so i used it for about a week with the adapter plugged in. i would notice the battery with the "x" inside of it on the right hand corner. i just got a brand new aftermarket battery for it. the "x" is still inside the battery symbol. I'm new to MacBooks so I'm wondering if i have to sync the battery to the macbook. or if the aftermarket battery that doesn't work. any comments or responses would be appreciated. thank you:D

you will either always have problems with aftermarket or 3rd party batteries... buy genuine...

2nd you can check ifixit.com and see if the battery connector needs to be replaced, its fairly cheap and easy to do so
