I have my new macbook attached to a 19" external display, a usb keyboard and a usb mouse and it's averaging around 58 degrees. (i also have it propped up for air flow and screen open a little for more airflow, so that's the best it'll get.) i think without that stuff plugged in, it averages in the forties or so, but i don't remember.

is that normal? is that healthy?

i was thinking that that maybe the usb peripherals were making it hotter because they are being powered by the laptop. but then i unplugged the that stuff and plugged in my ipod nano and it took forever to charge up completely. absurd how long it took. so since the laptop doesn't provide that much power, the keyboard and mouse can't be that much of a drain on the computer, right? and i don't see why the external monitor would have an effect.

can anyone shed some light on this??
