My sister has 1 gig of ram in her Macbook, and it is running slow recently. So I assume another gig will help it. Can you put iMac ram into a macbook? They are both 2008 models I think. Also, how many ram slots does it have? Could I just buy another gig, or would I need a 2 gig stick? And what are some good websites in Australia to buy ram? Thanks.

Also System Profiler will tell you, if only one or two (most likely) RAM slots are used on both Macs. Two slots are the maximum btw, only the late 2009 iMacs have four slots.
