I got a new monitor for Christmas to hook to my MacBook. What I want to do is set it so every time I plug the monitor into it the MacBook screen shuts off, and displays on the monitor. And every time i take the monitor out it goes back on the MacBook screen. Is this possible? Thanks in advance!

you could plug in your monitor have it set to mirror displays and then turn the contrast down on your macbook.

Or you could plug in the external monitor - have it in mirror displays - close the macbook - and then wake it up with the lid shut by pressing space or any othe key on a external keyboard a couple of times - or a mouse - or a iRemote. I think this is called clamshell mode. - thats what I do.
