About a month ago I went to open Photobooth on my Macbook (see signature) and I got the infamous black screen camera logo. I tried reinstalled the OS, zapping Pram, Disk Utility, Tech Tool, Apple Hardware Test, Onyx, and resetting PMU. The iSight cam would not show under system profiler and would not work in iChat or any other program.
I got my logic board replaced by apple for a different issue other than the isight, but now, I'm still having iSight issues. Sometimes it works fine, other times a reddish tint (see photo), black screen or no camera installed icon. I went through all the steps listed above (except for reinstalling the OS) and nothing seems to make a difference. When the camera doesn't work I usually power down and a few hours later power up and the camera seems to find itself. I can't seem to make any sense out of it. Sometimes in system profiler is says "Vendor-Specific Device" where it usually says "built-in iSight"
Anyone have any ideas on what it could be. I know replacing the iSight would be the best solution but I don't want to spend the $100-200 Apple is going to charge to replace it since I'm out of warranty. Would it even be an iSight issue or something else?
