I recently got my first mac (2011 macbook pro refurbished from the apple store) and I have loved it for the most part, but I am having a weird problem. When I open things, like a .dmg file to install something (such as yahoo messenger) it will seem like it hasn't responded and then maybe a entire 3 minutes later, after I had given up on it, suddenly the install will open.
Or eve online, I got it installed but when I try to open it, it just bounces in the dock for about two minutes and then sits there like it had opened but nothing shows up.
I have had the same problem with other programs too but these are the two off the top of my head. It doesn't happen every time but enough to have me concerned. Did I get a lemon?

id also like to note that while eve online finally worked but it took several minutes before anything happened, with no indication that anything was loading. Why is my macbook lagging in this way?
