So, I've been having a continuous problem with my macbook since last February. On startup, it freezes when it gets to the desktop. It doesn't matter if I open applications or not when I get to the desktop, it freezes. Generally, it requires between 4 to 6 startups before I can run it without freezing.
I have been to the Apple Store 6 times since August for the same problem. They installed and reinstalled OSX numerous times. Last time they finally did a clean install. As always, it worked for about a week before the problem returned. Apple says their hardware diagnosis shows no problems with the harddrive.
Notably, since the clean install, the computer is generally running slower. I click on things to open them now, and they do not open. I have 80GB free on the harddrive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This has gone on long enough.
I'm running at 2.16 Gz Macbook with OS X 10.4.11
